House Tour - The Living Room

So, the last we saw of our living room, it looked like this:

Now, it looks like this:

The rug is from IKEA ($20). The couch is from World Market ($310). The green chair is from a thrift store ($6!). The hammock was ordered off of Etsy ($80). The chair by the computer was from a thrift store ($15).

One of the themes throughout our house, that I've come to notice, is that of reflection. The woven hammock reflects the woven blanket hanging over the green chair. The blue pillows on the couch reflect each other.

The pictures above the couch is leftover inventory from my old art show days (remember when I did that?), and they reflect one another. (Colosseum, a view of Paris from the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe.)

Here's another picture:

You can see the toy area in this picture. The room has a lot of areas: a toy area, a chiropractic area, a couch, a computer area (where the couch has to be facing the computer because that is where we watch our shows), and the hammock area.

Once again, on reflection... the curtains reflect each other (3 windows, same kind of curtains, they were from Target by the way, $25 each, and Vern's mom cut them in half, so only bought three panels and she cut them into six), the rugs reflect each other (2 rugs, same kind).

The clock on the wall I took from my grandma's house after she died. It doesn't work, so it always says that it's 5:30. (The crochet blanket and the Robert Wood picture near the hammock were my grandma's as well.)

Here we can see another angle:

The blue on the poster above the computer reflects the color of the pillows reflects the color of the background on the owl art, which also reflects the blue used elsewhere in the house.

Here's a close-up of the poster above the computer (30 cents):

So, when I see a picture of a hammock in a magazine, and I think it's really cool and would be really neat to have in my living room... I say to myself, "Why not?" (because "why not" is a slogan for an interesting life).

And here's a view of the cute little owl again:

I got the owl art from here (the artist is super talented and just so happens to be a friend of mine). We named the owl Harold, and we love it very much.

You can see a little glimpse of the dining room here, which is where we will go tomorrow.

Until then...

I agree! The hammock is so happening in our house soon. I was once at a house in Trinidad, CA that had a hammock and a couple of sky chairs in the LV and I remember how awesome it was. When you wanted a lot of space...to dance, in this case, you just take down all of the "furniture" and voila, ton-o-space. They even put velcro on the remote control and strips of it on the chairs, so wouldn't have to get up or loose the remote. Clever. Thanks for being the second cool house I know with a hammock inside! Way cool!
