Once Upon a Child

I went to Once Upon a Child yesterday (a store that buys and sells gently used kids items... I got $12! Woohoo!).

Anyway, while I was there, I saw this:

They're called Walking Wings, and they look like this when you use them:

Seriously, mainstreamers, I know you like to have all the latest baby gadgets and everything under the sun... but, REALLY? Walking wings? Because your baby needs help... learning how to walk? Really?

Once Upon a Child also had about 20 Baby Bjorn baby carriers and Snugli's for sale, and zero of the REAL baby slings for sale (like the Moby, Ergo, Mei Tei, and the like). I mean, sure, I have to give people props for wearing their babies in the first place... but I just feel bad because people don't realize that the Baby Bjorn IS INSANELY BAD FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR BABY'S SPINE!

Also in Once Upon a Child, there was an entire back wall that Fischer Price threw up on. It was amazing.

Okay, that thing reminds me of those baby leashes... I hate those things...

I sold a couple things at Once Upon A Child yesterday too. I only made $8 though. What made me mad was seeing the items I sold them already on the self re-selling for WAY and I mean WAY more then they gave me for them. Oh well...at least they are gone and out of my home.

So not surprised. Have you looked at the sheer number of books devoted to teaching your baby to SLEEP lately? It's not even funny.

You are amazingly judgmental. It's not funny. It's pathetic.

First of all, unlike the now famous Anonymous, let me identify myself in this post. I am Allison's husband, Vernon. And before Anonymous or anyone thinks this is a biased post, I called Allison out on her thoughts about being judgmental before any of this began, and it lead to some arguments. It's also probably well known to many that I often disagree with Allison about how open Allison is about posting her thoughts and our life online.

That said, I do also respect how bold she is without fearing the repercussions. I mean she posts what many would consider some pretty strong opinions and yet never hides in anonymity. And she faces and responds to criticism much better and more calmly than many reading this (including myself right now)and especially Anonymous would.

I think this article probably closely describes Anonymous.

http://www.naturalnews.com/029572_Facebook_hate_speech.html

The article is about Facebook Haters, but parallels can obviously be drawn to this situation. Some notable excerpts from this article...

"No person of noteworthiness escapes being targeted by Facebook Haters because they operate 24 hours a day and, most important of all, they operate with complete anonymity.

Haters, you see, are emboldened by their anonymity. If real names were required on Facebook, the density of hate speech would drop sharply.

Which brings me to a curious question: Who, exactly, are these Haters?

As it turns out, these are ordinary, everyday people. These are the people who are frustrated with their jobs, frustrated with their marriages, frustrated with their economic situation and frustrated with life. They have no place to vent this frustration in the real world. You can't tell off your boss and expect to still receive a paycheck. You can't scream at your husband or wife without risking a divorce. You can't go around shooting people on the streets without getting arrested and thrown in prison.

But you can assassinate people online. Anonymously..."

Of course I don't actually know if this describes Anonymous or not, because she or he were too gutless to post their name.

And yes I'm judging you Anonymous. And yes from only two posts. What I can tell from your posts is that you're gutless and that is pathetic. And you either have never actually met Allison or you have but feel guilty about decisions you've made in your life that differ from her (even though they may have been the best you could make with the information you had at the time). You wish you had the courage she has, but you don't, so you look to bring down other who do.

As long as I'm on a roll... I just want everyone to know that long before the psychic told Allison that's she's brilliant, I've told Allison for years that she is one of the smartest people I know. She IS brilliant. Now, I may not always agree with her, but maybe that's because I'm not as brilliant as her and just don't understand.

Also, I'll disclose a little more and say that Allison and I have not been seeing eye to eye a lot the last couple of weeks, but I still love and respect her more than anyone and will come to her defense anytime in a split second, even though she certainly doesn't need me to in a case like this or in many cases in general actually. (Did I mention how bold and courageous and well-spoken and brilliant she is yet?)

And yes I know a post like this just fuels a hater like Anonymous' fire. So you're welcome Anonymous. A gift from me to you.

And once again so there is no mistake who posted this. I'll sign off with my name. Vernon.

Too funny, I didn't find that judgemental at all. But then, I agree with you!
Most people wouldn't sell their real slings to that store becuase they are VALUABLE!!! you can get way more money from them off ebay or craigslist. IF you were willing to part with it at all. Which I am not, and it turns out I was smart to save mine since I now find myself in a surprise pregnancy, lol. I was saving them for grandkids since my older two children are married and engaged.lol

The local OUAC here (Central MN)will sell your items for half new price and you will only get half of what they will sell for. So an $85 swing or bouncer will only get you $15-20 max. I sold on Craigslist for $40 each. So much better and worth it.

I never find anything decent for my daughter when I go there. And some of the prices are the same as a higher end consignment store that is also local with nice brand name clothes. Would rather have the good clothes and a decent selection.
