I call this part of the room the living space:
This is the library:
This is the chiropractic space:
This is the kids area:
And this is the home office:
I have aspirations of getting actual pictures on the wall (those that you see are leftovers from my days of doing art shows, which I haven't had the heart to part with yet, and I just hung them up on random nails that were already left in the wall, thus explaining the haphazard placement), and maybe an end table... but for now, we're settling in and calling it "Good Enough".
Note: Most of the stuff you see pictured was given to us for free or we bought it for cheap:
Couch = free (thank you Dan and Allison)
Chairs = free (thank you Tonya)
Rug = free (thank you Jennifer)
Cabinet = $5 (thank you garage sale)
Kids' Area Rug = $2 (thank you different garage sale)
Kids' Area Shelf = free (thank you Jan)

Looks great! I hung most of my parents' art on the random, existing nails when they moved into their house 15 years ago. Most of them are still hanging exactly where I put them. :)
Rug looks good! Like it's happy to be there.
