I interrupt these endless posts on how I spent my birthday to bring you news on my menstrual cycle.
I am currently on Day 29, Hour 9 of my cycle, and have not gotten my period yet. Not really a big deal (as I will tell you in greater detail later), but the thing that is making me wonder is that we had sex (yes, we're having sex here now) on Day 18, Hour 13. Which is not really a big deal (for the sake of this story), except that I can't quite figure out what my temperature shift means this time (Note: a woman's temperature goes up .5 degrees AFTER ovulation).
See, for the past 11 years, I never took my temperature and just relied on cervical mucus as my indicator of fertility (as well as my regular and consistent cycles). But, over the past couple of months, I have been taking my temperature regularly because of some 180degree.com health stuff which involves raising your temperature to be in better metabolic health (but that's another story).
So, this month, my temps were:
Day 13 = 97.2
Day 14 = 97.5
Day 15 = 97.6
Day 16 = 97.3
Day 17 = 97.5
Day 18 = 97.7
Day 19 = 98.2
Day 20 = 98.1
Day 21 = 98.4
(You get the idea.)
You see where I'm going with this? Where does it look like that jump occurred?
My cervical mucus has remained consistent to what it usually is (on its respective days throughout).
My previous cycles have been:
28 Days
30 Days
30 Days
32 Days
28 Days 12 Hours
30 Days 10 Hours
So, as you can see, nothing to really concern ourselves over other than the confusion with the temperatures not matching up to when I think I ovulated based on cervical mucus (which I would have put at around Day 16).
I will keep you posted.
And now, back to your regularly scheduled blogging.
This has been Goofy Mama, reporting.

I got my period today... Plus I got a new boyfriend, and you know how it is when you're kissing a guy with a tongue stud.
Oh, I have the funniest blog readers.
THANKS!
It's not clear to me what day you figure you ovulated on based on your CM. I'm assuming it's different than day 18? Because your temps alone don't look confusing at all...so keep us posted! It's not to early to test...
Yes, the confusing part is that I think I ovulated around Day 16 based on cervical mucus (as well as previous cycles), which obviously doesn't line up with the temps.
WAM BAM!!!
It looks like you O'd late this past cycle. Hmmm...Okay.
I have a 28 day cycle, but ovulate twice a lot (mostly because I am cool like that)so my first ovulation is almost immediately after my period, (which are always 7-8 days long)around day 10 or 11, and then I used to ovulate again around day 20. Which is how Mallaigh was made.
So, it is possible that you ovulated late. It does happen sometimes. Maybe God wants you to explain how that happened to Vernon's brother.
How are you taking your temp? My understanding is that you need either a vaginal or rectal temp for fertility awareness. Oral is very unreliable. I think Matt stone says you can do armpit but that's for his stuff not fertility.
I think you ovulated late on day 16 or maybe on day 17. My shift always happens 2 days after I ovulate. Also your day 18 temp is already showing an increase of .4 over day 16, so again, I think that suggests a day 16/17 ovulation. Hopefully if you had sex late enough on day 18 that little egg was already gone. That is cutting a little close though, don't you think? :)
I take my temp under my armpit. I didn't realize that the shift could happen 2 days after ovulation... good to know. And yes, it is cutting it close... that's why it concerned me.
I was baffled by possible late ovulation occurrences happening within my home. But with the aid of a chalkboard and the use of 2 sock-puppets, Goofy Mama explained to me that:
There are many misconceptions about late ovulation. For example, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), while the most common cause of no ovulation, is not tied to late ovulation. Skipping a month of ovulation is not abnormal, although it may be a cause for concern if it happens more than twice per year. The most common cause of late ovulation is a luteal phase defect indicated by poor follicle production, failure of the uterine lining to respond to normal levels of progesterone, or premature demise of the corpus luteum. Stress, illness, or excessive exercise can also cause late ovulation for some women. I didn't ask but I bet Allison had many patience practice periods (PPP) waiting for me to understand. The more you know...
DItto mouth temping and with a basal thermometer. Even if you did ovulate on day 16 or 17, sex on day 18 seems risky.
